You work with multiple clients and have to manage your time effectively. How can you do it better?
Be present. Be transparent. Prioritize learning each client's communication style and recognize the requests/meetings representing a potential challenge versus a potential disaster. You can use that knowledge to figure out where to invest your time best to get the strongest ROI. Clients are paying for your time, and typically, it's due to a challenge, so do whatever it is to quiet the noise while you're on a call/zoom/in-person meeting with that one specific client. Leave the phone(s) in your bag and do what most of us completely suck at and be present.

What are the key skills and behaviors of a visionary leader?
If you're going to be a leader, you have to lead to something and have the ability to articulate that destination in plain, simple language. i.e. - what does success look like? If you're climbing the hill...what can everyone expect when we reach the top? Visionary leaders and inspirational leaders go hand in hand. Visions exist because whatever the destination looks like has yet to be seen, so it will require inspiration to get people to want to go there...

What are the best ways to build a consulting culture over time?
Ping pong tables, bean bags, buzz words? Nope. Consulting revolves around people - they are the product, the service, and everything in between. Culture is built with a people-centric approach, underpinned by genuine concern for everyone's well-being. Good culture fosters opportunities for people to learn, lead, and expand into more significant roles. A healthy culture provides a safe environment for individuals to be vulnerable and voice differing opinions, particularly during challenging/uncertain times. Promoting a sense of ownership enhances a strong culture. An organization that empowers its people to make impactful decisions displays a level of trust and respect that motivates high achievers to excel. Autonomy > Alignment.

How can you develop the skill of providing actionable recommendations to clients?
It's all about putting yourself in the client's shoes, imagining a day in their world with the common objectives/challenges they face, and asking excellent questions. What tasks are they doing most frequently? What aspects of the tasks could be more efficient? Are they aware of the inefficiencies? Why can't/haven't they changed them? Do they have the authority to drive change? Can you, as the consultant, use your platform/contract to spotlight areas of improvement and drive change? Giving recommendations is a sales activity. Sell the hole and not the drill. i.e., offer recommendations that hit close to home and make that client's day-to-day life more efficient. Explain how each recommendation gets them closer to their vision of "good."
